This was one of my favorite jobs. We took over a Metrolink train in Southern California, and every car had its own purpose. One was hair and makeup. Another held the camera crew. Another was catering. We were a small village on rails.
Then there was the shooting, and it all happened while we were moving. Two friends playing cards. A guy with his bike, ready to roll off at the next stop. A conductor who couldn’t stop smiling as he walked the aisle. Someone watching the coast go by. After a few hours, shooting while moving felt normal to me.
I loved the light changing from one stop to the next, and the palm trees and platforms that kept it unmistakably Southern California.
I’m a commercial, lifestyle and portrait photographer based in Los Angeles and Asheville, North Carolina, and I travel worldwide. See more of the Metrolink-Amtrak work at thesabrina.com.
